Introduction

The SFBM (The Swedish Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology) held its annual meeting on the 25-26 September, 2007 at Stockholmsmässan (Stockholm International Fairs) in Stockholm. The main organizers was Prof. Elzbieta Glaser, Stockholm University and Prof. Stefan Hohmann, Göteborg University. The theme of the meeting was “Proteins: from gene to function” and covered molecular aspects of the fate of proteins in the cell, including protein expression, transport mechanisms to a correct intracellular compartment, protein folding, assembly and structure/function relationship, as well as the final fate of proteins, their degradation.
It was two intensive days with interesting presentations.
Nico Dantuma held a very interesting The Svedberg Lecture after receiving the Award.
Carolina Lundin was awarded the Poster Prize.

Abstracts, list of participants from the meeting are available for downloading as a pdf-file here.

The organizers would like to thank economic supporters, all invited speakers, poster presentations and all participants for contributing to two rewarding days!

The meeting was supported by:

the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences
through its Nobel Institute for Chemistry

the Swedish Research Council
